Add a Favicon in Webnode

by Daniel on 21 de April de 2011

Learn how to insert a favicon.ico in site created with Webnode.

Sites can be customized with small icons called favicons that appear in the address bar.

Some users of  Webnode, can not add a favicon due some problems mentioned below.
1. The Webnode not allow access via FTP to the server, which impedes the publication of favicon.ico in root folder.
2. The Webnode not allow the storage of files which are not GIF, JPG or PNG.
3. The Webnode not provide access to header of page, preventing the code is added in the correct location.

Despite the problems mentioned above, using an alternative process is possible to add a favicon on your Webnode’s site. Follow the steps below and learn how to add your favicon.

Step One - Create a favicon
To start, you must create your favicon.ico. We recommend that you use the service “IconJ”.
<<Access IconJ here>>
.
After generating the favicon, the IconJ offers the option to download the image or the code ready to be inserted into your site.
.

The picture above shows the code that must be placed on your site.

Adding the code to your site
After generating the code of your favicon, you must add this code to your site’s template. To do this go to your control panel, click in ”Format Options”  and in new page click on “Footer”.

In small window that pops up you must add the code generated in “IconJ”  to “Code HTML of footer”. Check out the picture below.

Then just save and close the window.

Note

The browser stores temporary files of sites that you visit, so it may be necessary to clear the temporary files of your browser for you can see the favicon.
